FIGURED CALIFORNIA BASTOGNE WALNUT LOG Check out this huge log. Can you believe it? It's 7 feet across at the butt, 9 feet across at the crotch, and 8 feet long. This very rare log is highly figured with curl, burl, blister and crotch figure, and solid to the heart. All the huge limbs are also highly figured. It weighs an incredible 29,600 pounds and had to loaded and unloaded with a crane. I am building a mill to be able to cut flitches from it full width. I can only imagine what is inside. Bastogne Walnut, the rarest of all walnut woods, is a natural cross between California English Walnut and California Claro. Bastogne trees grow very large and the wood is always denser than the two parent trees. Since the trees are not cultivated and only grow naturally, they are very rare. The color contrast is that of the brilliant colors of Claro and the dark streaks of English. All OF THIS AMAZING BASTOGNE WALNUT IS NOW KILN DRIED AND FOR SALE. CALL FOR MORE INFO. BOOKMATCHED CURLY ENGLISH WALNUT CROTCH These are the last pieces from the amazing butt log I cut years ago and have stashed. Bookmatched they are 4' to 5' wide and 17' long with incredible figure. They are all gone long ago and all went to VERY famous people including Oprah Winfrey. I keep the matching piece from hers and just hung it in my Studio. It is awesome. I still have some of the lumber from the top wood from this tree in 4/4, 5/4, and 10/4. Wood from this incredible tree is truly STASH QUALITY. They are better than any veneer I have ever seen and they are solid 10/4 pieces. I have keep the matching pair and I will end match them to make a desk for myself for my office. CIRCASSIAN WALNUT BURL Just out of the kiln --- 5/4 & 6/4 natural burly edged flitches cut from the ball at the butt end of a very rare 10 ft. long Circassian Walnut Burl log. They are small bookmatched pieces big enough to make small side tables to coffee tables or free form shelves. They could be resawn for cabinet panels or boxes. The figure goes from solid burl to quilt and curl. The figure is stunning. They dried beautifully with no checking. A few have a small void or natural hole but most are solid.
